Storage
To give the Ardmore Portwood 12 years old its special charakter, the Single Malt Whisky matures most of the 12 years in Bourbon casks. Afterwards it got its finish in port wine casks, which gives it a very special and above all fruity note.
Aroma and taste
The distillery ensures that this becomes an elegant drop not only during the ripening period. The barley is dried with peat smoke, which gives the Portwood a special smoky note. This can already be seen during nosing, when it hovers discreetly below the fruity notes of orange and strawberry. In addition there are spicy notes of pepper and cinnamon. It is also mild and sweet on the palate. This highly exciting composition is dominated by fruit, with apples on the palate. Rounded off by a hint of smoke and honey, a sweet-elegant whisky is created.
Finish
The whisky from the Scottish Highlands also reveals its complex character in the finish. The finish is medium long and concludes with oak notes. The charming smoky note that gives Ardmore 12 YO Portwood a fascinating draught is revealed once again beforehand.
