It has become perfectly acceptable to enjoy fine champagne on ice - what a time to be alive! Following in the footsteps of the likes of Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot, none other than the prestigious house of Pommery decided to create a delicious cuvee to be relished over ice cubes as well: Pommery Royal Blue Sky.
From the looks of it, it already it lives up to its name. The beautifully designed bottle contains a refreshing demi sec champagne based to equal parts on Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. With a higher sugar content, it is pleasantly sweet. On the nose, it lures you in with exciting hints of dried figs and almonds, which go over into notes of marshmallows, marzipan, honey, and French pastry. The palate tops it off with a brilliant harmony of white vermouth, ripe mangoes, and boiled down bitter oranges.
Pommery's very own cellar master, Thierry Gasco, recommends drinking it over a lot of ice cubes from a voluminous glass paired with some nice and light appetisers. Enjoy!
