Distillery

The distillery Glenfiddich was founded in 1886 by William Grant in Dufftown, in the heart of Speysi-de. To this day, the distillery is regarded as one of the best known - especially for its high-quality whisky. The triangular bottle shape of the Glenfiddich 12 years is one of the trademarks of the distillery and stands for the three basic elements of whisky - water, air and barley malt.

The whisky is distilled in the air of Scotland, from the pure water of the Robbie Dubh springs and exquisite malt. Each bottle is then filled by hand.

Maturation

Glenfiddich is aged for 12 years in both Bourbon and Olosoro sherry barrels. The change and maturation in both types of casks allows the whisky to take on the characteristics of the casks and also gives it its beautiful, golden colour. Combined in oak barrels, the Glen-fiddich develops its complexity and its fresh, complex notes over 12 years.

A special feature of the whisky: Glenfiddich is the only distillery that uses barrels specially made for the marriage.

Taste

The Glenfiddich is 12 years fruity and fresh on the palate. At the same time it remains very light, which leaves it well on the tongue.

Malt and caramel sweetness dominate the taste.

Characteristic for the Single Malt are also the aromas of fresh pears, which harmonize with creamy wood tones.

Finish

The finish is mild and complex at the same time. Nuances of the slightly peaty smoky note are noticeable. However, the fruity, softer components, which arise from storage in Olosoro sherry barrels, among other things, are present.

Awards

The Glenfiddich 12 years is not only great in the eyes of Glenfiddich connoisseurs and beginners, but also in those of independent committees! In 2015 and 2016, the single malt whisky won the gold medal at the Spirits Challenge.
