Flóki Icelandic Young Malt - named after Iceland's first explorer Flóki
Flóki Icelandic Young Malt is made by the family owned Eimverk Distillery in Iceland. The Icelandic distillery is still young, only opening in 2009. With this fine whiskey, however, you will get a wonderful sample that embodies the expertise of the distillery and also pays tribute to the first discoverer of the country, Hrafna-Flóki.
A single malt whiskey made from rare Icelandic barley
The whiskey from the small distillery, named after Flóki the Explorer, is made from 100% locally grown barley. This is something special. Due to harsh climatic conditions, the barley grown in Iceland is usually considered substandard and not used on its own. However, using a custom-made distillation unit, the brand allow the full flavor of the barley to come to the fore. It is then matured in American oak barrels for the aromatic fine grinding.
The aroma profile ranges from lemon to wheat biscuits
Flóki Icelandic's Young Malt presents a complex and unique profile. Its character shines through a combination of typical Bourbon, Irish Whiskey and Highland Whiskey facets. Aromas of fresh lemon, wild herbs, malt, vanilla and wheat pastries, are combined with discreet pepper flavours. The finish is sweet and creamy - evoking toffees and herbs. Flóki Single Malt is exceptional and definitely worth a tasting.
