Bowmore Black Rock

The Bowmore Black Rock Whisky from Islay Island is a Scottish single malt whisky. It owes its name to a black rock ("Black Rock") that can be seen on the coast of the island. The assumption is that one can see the rock from the window of the Bowmore distillery and the whisky therefore comes to its name.

Distillery

The Bowmore distillery has already produced several high-quality island whiskies in the past. One thing the Bowmore whiskies have in common is that they usually have a meaningful name and not an age statement.

Maturation

The Bowmore Black Rock Single Malt Scotch Whisky does not have an exact maturation span. However, the Bowmore distillery announced that the whisky spends a large part of its storage time in Spanish sherry barrels. Thus the single malt is infused with fine fruit notes.

The remaining maturation is carried out in Bourbon barrels.

Nosing

As known for a whisky from the Scottish island of Islay, the Bowmore Black Rock also comes with a smoky aroma that is noticeable when you smell it. The name of the whisky immediately comes to weight - you can see stones, pebbles and minerals. In addition, the Bowmore Black Rock makes itself noticeable with a scent of dried fruit, including apricot and date, which stops briefly. Finally, forest honey, kefir and dark berries can be identified.

Taste

On the tongue the Bowmore Black Rock is very soft and has a light body. The smoky note accompanies the sip dominantly. There are also fine fruity nuances, including pear, for example. The storage in the sherry barrels is noticeable. A bitter balance is provided by notes of roasted espresso. Towards the back, the Bowmore Black Rock is dry, but surprises with a slight hint of cinnamon.

Finish

On the finish, the Bowmore Black Rock is fine and balanced. The finish is smoky, with a fine taste of sea salt remaining in the mouth.

Perfect Serve

To enjoy the Bowmore Black Rock in all its splendour and with the effect of all its aromas, whisky should be drunk pure or "on the rocks". A nice tumbler glass is suitable for this.
